About Our Groups The Center also provides on-going psychodramatic group sessions to learn coping skills, re-establish true intimacy, and relationship skills. All of our staff are trained in action methods, group therapy, and psychodrama. Our facilitators use the experiential action method of psychodrama to encourage the group process. By experiencing your personal dramas in a safe, supportive group setting you can uncover hidden issues, feelings, old roles, and patterns that would take months or even years to address in conventional one-on-one therapy. Our groups meet weekly for two hours and strictly confidential.
Locked within all of us are emotions we dare not express, secrets we dare not whisper, and experiences we dare not remember. We have pushed so many pieces of ourselves into that deep, dark space inside, that we have forgotten who we really are. The spontaneity that makes life shimmer with joy is lost to dullness and a gnawing sense that we are merely pushing through the pain of daily existence.Psychodrama brings those long-buried emotions and experiences bubbling to the surface. Through role-playing we are able to tap into those lost feelings, shed the roles that no longer serve us, welcome and actualize the person we were meant to be and the relationships we want to have.
Our need to talk, interact and simply be with each other is part of our development. Participants in psychodrama become more present, more aware and, as a consequence, more conscious. Actions on thoughts and feelings give us greater visibility to our inner worlds and greater energy to our words As you move from "talking about" into action, opportunities arise to heal the past, clarify the present nd imagine the future.
